Craft, a new gift store featuring handmade items with a Michigan focus, opened today in downtown Adrian.

CraftOwner Melissa Snead said the store features exclusively handmade items, about 90 percent of them from Michigan. Craft is located at 128 N. Main St.

Snead has sold her own knitted and crocheted accessories since 2008 under the name Owl’s Nest, and decided to open a store after she started selling at fairs and meeting other artisans. The store has close to 100 people’s work represented. The products include jewelry, greeting cards and a variety of Michigan-themed gifts.

Snead said her first day in business was a busy one, with the store packed for the first three or four hours.

“It’s been a great day,” she said.

Craft is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It can be found on Facebook or Instagram, and the phone number is 517-918-9158.
