With a parade, light sculptures, and a DJ blasting dance tunes on South Main Street, Adrian First Fridays set out to prove that a little snow and slush isn’t enough to keep Adrian down. Holiday Light Parade

Adrian’s Christmas parade is December 5

Downtown Adrian will host a Holiday Lights Parade on the first Friday in December. The parade, which is being organized this year by the Adrian First Fridays committee, will start at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Lineup will begin at 6 p.m. at the outdoor pavilion on Toledo Street. The parade will go first to Broad Street, then travel south on Broad Street to Maumee Street, turning right on Maumee to pass through the Four Corners and then continue to Comstock Park for the lighting of the Comstock Christmas Riverwalk. Adrian First Fridays revs up the nostalgia with car show, ’50s-themed DJ

The next installment of Adrian First Fridays will take place on Friday, Aug. 1, with activities beginning at 5 p.m. The theme for August is “Cruise-In.” The evening will feature a car show, ’50s music, dancing, contests and kids’ activities in the downtown Adrian Pavilion located on Toledo Street. Downtown businesses will host food, music, art and fun throughout the evening. Live music will be performed at several locations. Continue Reading

People in the news: Art & Sole finishers, biology student honors and more

The top male and female finishers in the Art & Sole 5K, part of Adrian First Fridays in downtown Adrian, were Jim Masan (21:05) and Sheri Bush (25:11). Bush is a champion marathoner who has competed around the world. (The Daily Telegram ran a nice feature on her last year, which you can read here.) The Art & Sole 5K took place April 4. Two Lenawee County men were among the Siena Heights University biology students who received honors at the regional conference of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. Continue Reading
